Pacific Palisades, CA
Designed by George C. Thomas Jr. and William P. Bell.
The course
Set in a barranca below Sunset Boulevard in the Pacific Palisades, Riviera has hosted a U.S. Open, two PGA Championships, and the annual PGA Tour stop now known as the Genesis Invitational. George Thomas and William Bell routed the course through kikuyu fairways and small, well-defended greens, and the design has changed little since 1927.
Signature hole: The short par-4 10th, drivable yet ringed by bunkers, asks players to weigh a bold tee shot against the safer lay-up and is regarded as one of the great short holes in the game.
