Royal Liverpool Golf Course

Designed by Robert Chambers and George Morris.

The course

Founded in 1869 on the exposed Wirral Peninsula, Royal Liverpool is one of the oldest of England's seaside links and a regular host of The Open Championship. Originally laid out by Robert Chambers and George Morris and refined over the decades, the course is known for its firm turf, out-of-bounds internal fences, and the wind that sweeps in off the Dee estuary. It produced the great amateurs John Ball and Harold Hilton and has welcomed champions including Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy.

Signature hole: The closing par-5 18th demands a precise approach over a large bunker guarding the green, a finishing test that has decided several Open Championships.
